At a recent family gathering, I shared that I had both a MySpace page and a Facebook page.
My nieces and nephews looked at me as if I had said Zac Ephron was “groovy.”
“That’s something college kids have!” one of my nieces said.
Of course, I pointed out that I was a “college kid” two years ago, albeit a 45-year-old one. But then again, college is not just for kids, and neither is the Internet.
As the Internet becomes part of the mainstreem, we are going to have the largest generations ever heading into retirement. They will have plenty of time but not a lot of energy to battle traffic. Those retirees will not just go golfing and fishing. They will spend a lot of time online.
A 47-year-old may seem out of place on Facebook, but trust me it will become the norm. Instead of combing the beach with a metal detector, Grandpa will be surfing.
