If you read only one more blog post, read this one from Andrew Sullivan.

Andrew is one of my favorite bloggers in spite of the fact that he and I holding very different viewpoints. He is a Goldwater conservative (as opposed to a neocon) and gay. I am a tad more liberal and strictly heterosexual.

But Andrew makes a great point in how the Bush Administration totally lost sight of American ideals and conservative values to the point where we have a quasi-dictatorship. In America today, people can be arrested, transported to a foreign country, and tortured. We have embraced the very practices we fought so hard against.

Many say that torture is the only way to get that information. But as Andrew points out, torture is not just morally wrong, it doesn’t work. The information gained from torture is often wrong. Those being tortured give false confessions to stop the torture. The case of Abdullah Hizagy points that out.

But we have leaders who clearly deny the truth. The problem is that unless Congress somehow finds the guts to impeach Bush and Cheney, we’re stuck with them until Jan. 20, 2009.
